1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. In the first video I saw called “Greenberg on Art Criticism: An interview by T.J Clark and in this video they mainly discuss the evolution of art criticism and the many issues on modernist painting. this video also focuses on Greenberg’s career and his place in many aspects. In the second video “An introduction to the Italian Renaissance” in this video it shows how many artists developed their techniques and it also shows many images that represent the Romans influence on the Renaissance of art. In the third video “The Critics: Stories from the Inside Pages” the film focuses on the journey that Dr. Dwight went through in order to answer a specific question. The overall result was a look at criticism as an art form. Lastly in “The Colonial Encounter: Views of Non-Western Art and Culture, the film focuses on the 1900 World’s Fair which was a time that promoted the celebration of different ethnicity. They also show numerous photographs, posters, and clips from renowned art historians all around the world.
2. Do the videos relate to the creation of your Art Criticism project? If yes, explain how. If no, explain why not. All fours videos do relate to a certain extent to my Art criticism project. These video have a connection to what I have done because it gave an outline to showing what the process is when giving criticism.
3. What is your opinion of the films? Do they add depth to understanding of art criticism? My opinions on the films were that they were very in debt and interesting. I felt like they added depth to my understanding in many ways. First the films all had great information which was easy to follow by and secondly it really gave me an outline to what I could do with my project.
