Week 11: Blog Video Review

1. Explain why you selected each of the FOUR videos you choose from the selection listed above. Four videos that I chose to look at was called “Matisse and Picasso”, “The Impact of Cubism”, “Dada and Surrealism”, and lastly “Expressionism”. I chose these because there titles seemed interesting.
2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
In the first video called “Matisse and Picasso” the key concept to me was learning about the relationship between Matisse and Picasso. The video showed many examples of paintings that were created and it shows the process these artists went through to get to where they are today. In the second video “The Impact of Cubism”, I got to learn how Cubism came about and the impact it has on the 20^th century. This film also focuses on many different pieces of artwork that were created using this element. Third film called “Dada and Surrealism” this film just focuses on how surrealism arose and how it opened many new places for artistic creation. Lastly, in “Expressionism” I felt the key concept was learning about the outgrowth of Fauvism.
2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?
I felt like the videos relate to the readings in the text because the videos showed a lot of what I read in the textbook. I felt like the videos were a review of what I had just learned about.
3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts?

In my opinion the films were pretty good. I really enjoyed watching them since they were well put together and entertaining. I felt like the videos added more depth to my understanding on the different topics.
