1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. In the first video
watched “The Lowdown on Lowbrow: West Coast Pop art” I got to learn on how
Lowbrow came about and the huge sensation it was, and the video mainly focuses
on the type of art it was. In the second video “Displaying Modern Art: The Tate
Approach” this film mainly focuses on the Museum of Modern Art and how their
art work was displayed representing the different art movements. In the third
video “Bones of Contention: Native American Archaeology” I got to learn on how
the Indians bones were collected for scientific purposes and there was a huge
debate on whether or not the remains should be kept or returned to their
ancestors. In the last video “An Acquiring Mind: Philippe de Montebello and the
Metropolitan” I got to learn about the legacy of Philippe de Montebello and
what he did for the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
2.
Do the videos relate to the creation of your Art Exhibition
project? If yes, explain how. If no, explain why not. I felt like in
some ways the videos do relate to the creation of my Art Exhibition project
because the videos show many different types of themes and arrangements. On the
other hand, it doesn’t pertain fully because I felt like my work is unique and
full of things that remind me of myself.
3.
What is your opinion of the films? Do they add depth to understanding of the
art concepts you practiced while creating your curation project? I felt the films were
very much like the last ones I watched they were put together and very interesting.
The videos have helped me come up with the ideas I have and has given me some
inspiration to the type of theme I want. Overall, the films gave a lot of
insight of what you might be looking for and were very helpful.
